Salford Foundation upgrade from Vizual Personnel Manager to People Inc. HR
Salford Foundation is social inclusion organisation that supports the vocational, personal, social and academic development of young people and adults in Salford and other boroughs of Greater Manchester and the North West.
The Foundation values the contribution that businesses and members of the local community make in supporting their work. Together they work with children, young people and adults to maximise their potential and provide bespoke support to take individuals on a journey from where they are now to where they want to be by opening the doors to opportunity.
Many of the Foundation’s programmes include significant volunteer support with a particular focus on mentoring by working closely with local businesses and the wider community. Their work in schools focuses on the development of work related experience and enterprise to put the curriculum in a real-world context or supporting individual children and young people to address issues of self-esteem, school engagement and attainment.
Salford Foundation employees over 40 staff from their offices in Salford and Eccles and for several years used Vizual Personnel Manager to record key personnel information including absence and training. They were concerned with losing all their existing data as Personnel Manager was only installed locally on one user’s PC. Additionally, Personnel Manager was discontinued in 2009 and had very limited support and was not compatible with more recent versions of Microsoft Windows and Office.
The key factors for upgrading to People Inc. from Personnel Manager were:
- People Inc. provides a wide range of additional functionality that Personnel Manager does not offer.
- People Inc is fully supported and the data is stored safely on Salford Foundations server so that it can be backed up regularly.
- The upgrade includes a full data migration service that can be carried out from agathonhr’s office to reduce disruption and effort.
- People Inc. is easy to use meaning only one days training is required reducing costs.
The timing for the upgrade was perfect as it coincided with the latest release of People Inc. meaning Salford Foundation were up and running with the very latest version of the software which included a brand new, even easier to use, user interface as well as additional Screens and ‘Workflow Wizards’ as standard.
Joy Newton, PA to the Chief Executive for Salford Foundation, wanted an affordable and more up-to-date replacement for their existing system without having to re-enter several years’ worth of valuable employee data. “I was pleasantly surprised at how quick and easy the upgrade was”, says Joy. “All our existing data was transferred from the old system, even the attached documents. agathonhr also provided a full audit of our data as part of the process to make sure the data was tidy from the outset”.
Not only is People Inc. is a comprehensive yet cost effective HR system it is also extremely flexible. We were able to add custom fields to allow Joy to record additional DBS information for her employees which she had previously had to record on a separate spreadsheet. Not only were we able to replace the need for the spreadsheet, but we also configured an ’Action List Trigger’ to automatically remind Joy of critical Expiry Dates and produce useful and meaningful reports about the DBS Status within the organisation.
